Itamar News Updates July 19th 2019
Itamar welcomed the visit of Fred Wouters and Jan from the Netherlands. They came to show their solidarity with one of Itamar’s farms that were badly damaged in the recent fires. We also welcomed the director of the Israeli organization called “Emet Sheli” Avichay Shorshan; he was joined by a young Canadian student who is volunteering in Israel for the summer. The organization focuses on educating the world about the difficult and complicated challenges Israeli soldiers face in the battlefield as they maintain the highest moral standard of ethical behavior possible.
This week the memorial of the Shabo family massacre was held on Itamar. Watch the short video of Asael Shabo describing his survival and how he copes with the terrible tragedy.
Below is a recent letter sent to our supporters please respond kindly to our annual summer appeal. I hope you and your family are well and that you are enjoying the Summer Season. Friends of Itamar, a registered 501c3 non-profit organization, was established in 2007 in the wake of brutal murderous attacks which left over twenty of our residents victims of terror, the last being the Fogel family, mas¬sacred in 2011. The goal is to turn this keystone area in the heart of Israel into a thriving, bustling continuity of Jewish settlement that has hundreds and thousands of people that call it home. Dedicated to the careful planning, construction and safeguarding of the community of Itamar, Friends of Itamar has been impacting facts on the ground and succeeding in many of the challenges we have been facing over the years. We plow forward with the vision of turning a windswept mountain of rocks into a green oasis. We focus on not only maintaining security but sustain a wide range of educational cultural recreational and agricultural projects. This has largely been accomplished through your generous donations which have been a life support system to the people that live here and to the projects we maintain. The meaningfulness of the mission that connects us is based on idealism, pioneering spirit, and promotion of this Biblical, historical and strategic asset, turning it into solid ground that blooms – despite the many obstacles. Your charitable kindness has enabled hundreds of children to receive Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and ADD-ADHD therapy and go on to succeed in school and in life. You have helped us build parks, recreational centers, made us safer us by providing technological security systems and methods to make sure we stay safe from the hands of radical jihad. Your benevolence has built our permanent synagogue, Yeshiva Gevoa, our Nursery Center, Talmud Torah, and helped our farmers plow on, being not only self-sustaining but now the forerunners in organic agriculture in the country. Friends of Itamar has recently put in a new sports court for playing ball and a spring and pool for wading and water enjoyment for tourists, campers and for us. And now we are turning to you to kindly continue supporting us as the dream becomes a reality here in the heart of Israel in Itamar. We feel a strong obligation to the brave people here. Let’s strengthen strength! Blessing you with so, so many thanks for your love and care for the Land and people of Itamar! Have a wonderful Summer! Rabbi Moshe Goldsmith President P.S.
